The math

How a night’s money is worked out

  1. Door = tickets sold × ticket price.
  2. Venue or host share = the door × the percentage they keep. The rest is the door split.
  3. The deal. Door split: the band gets the door split. Guarantee vs. door: the band gets whichever is higher, the guarantee or the door split. Flat guarantee: the band gets the guarantee and the venue keeps the door.
  4. Bar share = your bar sales estimate × your percentage (0 if the bar is not shared).
  5. Band’s take = the door amount from the deal + the bar share.
  6. Profit = the take − room hire, sound or door person, gas and travel, and other costs.
  7. Band fund = the profit × your fund percentage, taken first (only when there is a profit).
  8. Each member = what is left, split evenly to the cent; when it does not divide exactly, the first names on the list get one cent more so the shares add up exactly. A loss is split the same way, as what each member chips in.
  9. Break-even = the fewest tickets for which the profit is zero or more. “Never” means even a sold-out room does not cover the costs on that deal.

The site lists no bands, venues, ticket prices or deals of its own and sells no tickets. Card or ticketing fees are not added for you: put them in Other costs.
